Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court Transferred to the Orissa High Court

In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 222 of the Constitution of India, the President, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, has transferred Shri Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel, Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, as the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court and has directed him to assume charge of the office of the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court on or before 24th October, 2013.

Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur Transferred to the Gauhati High Court

In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President has appointed Shri Justice Prasanta Kumar Saikia, Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court, to be a Judge of that High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.

Tenure of 4 Additional Judges of the High Court of Delhi Extended

The tenure of the following four Additional Judges of the High Court of Delhi has been extended. Exercising the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President of India has extended the tenure of : (i) Ms. Mukta Gupta as Additional Judge of the High Court of Delhi for a period of two years with effect from 23rd October 2013; (ii) Shri R. V. Easwar as Additional Judge of the High Court of Delhi with effect from 17th October 2013 till 28th April 2014; and (iii) Smt. Pratibha Rani and Shri Sat Paul Garg as Additional Judges of the High Court of Delhi for a period of two years with effect from 17th October 2013.

Justice D. K. Jain’s Resignation from Law Commission of India Accepted

The President of India has accepted the resignation of Shri Justice D. K. Jain from the post of Chairperson, Law Commission of India, with effect from the afternoon of 5th October 2013.
Shri Justice D. K. Jain has taken over as the President, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, on the afternoon of 5th October 2013.
